We entreat you, Lord, give us grace and strength to sing your praises with understanding, and to pray to you unceasingly, working out our salvation in fear and trembling with the help of your Christ.
Fill our mouths with your praise, O Lord, that we may ever extol your holy name, and share the inheritance of all who truly hold you in awe and keep your commandments.
By definition, a priest is one who makes a sacrificial offering to God on behalf of the people. Jesus is our Great High-priest who makes the offering of his very self for the life and for the salvation of the world. Here’s Part 1 of a study of Jesus’ Great High-priestly Prayer in John 17.
Deal tenderly with us, O Healer and Physician of our souls. Lead us to that haven of safety that is the performance of your will. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts that we may recognize your truth.
O God and Master! Accept us and the praise we bring you this day together with our humble thanks, and grant us everything we need for our salvation.
For your mercy’s sake, Lord my God, tell me what you are to me. So speak that I may hear, O Lord; my heart is listening; open it that it may hear you, and say to my soul: I am your salvation.
O Holy Spirit, Powerful Consoler! You love the humble and resist the proud. Come to me, O glory of the living and hope of the dying. Lead me by your grace that I may always be well-pleasing to you.
We seek your face, O Lord! Turn your countenance upon us and show us your glory. Then shall our longing be satisfied, and our peace shall be perfect.
With your Sovereign Spirit steady my mind, that, guided and guarded each day, I may be able to practice your commandments, always remembering your glorious presence that looks upon the deeds of all people.
Lord, examine and reveal to me my faults and sins. I put all trust in you. I have no other desire than to fulfill your will.
